Birthday Boy

TW turned the big 5 this month. 5 seems so old. Like a real boy. He got to have an extended birthday--his real birthday and then a party the next Saturday. Here are some photos from the first fun day. Happy birthday, big boy! I love you!

My cute boy.

Getting ready to open his BIG present...

New bike!

Opening his new tackle box--thanks Grammie and Pappy! Now, if we would just go fishing!

He's only cut himself once so far...

Trying out the new wheels...

First of his two birthday cakes, "Upside down pineapple cake!"

Peanut Butter and Coconuts!

Our new non-swearing swear words....E just came in and told me TJ just said "Peanut butter and coconuts!" when he saw TW had gone the wrong way in the game he was playing...TJ hates peanut butter and coconut, so I guess that makes sense....

A day in the life as #4

Snotty and stuck with Spiderman stickers....

9 Months

Miss A is 9 months today. In honor of her nine month mark, she's perfecting the army crawl. Real crawling is just around the corner, I'm afraid. Yes, I'm afraid, very afraid! In other news, my May posting has had a hiccup (or in this case throw up) because the boys have had the stomach crud, but hopefully I can get some of TW's birthday pics up before the end of the month.....5 already...sigh...my babies are all growing up so fast!

Enjoy!

A Trip to the Zoo

I'm back. Blogland has been crowded out by real life this month, I guess. That and E had to reload my computer. (It's nice to be married to a nerd, even if it takes a while for him to get around to it.) But now my computer doesn't blue screen every 5 minutes, I have loads of May event pictures to share, the kids are feeling better (Miss A is recovering from pneumonia, for those of you who don't know, and the boys have had various ailments) and I have help this week (E's parents!), so get ready for a whirlwind of posting activity....

TJ's class had a field trip to the Pittsburgh Zoo this month and we made a family day of it. Pittsburgh Zoo is great--fun trails, all the important animals, a playground, a really nice aquarium, and still small enough to get through in about 3-4 hours with kids. I think this was the 3rd or 4th time we've been there, but we're always happy to go again.

Checking out the zebras

TW preparing to go in the elephant house. Last time we were at the zoo, when he was 3, they were bellowing when we went in and almost scared him to death. He still remembered and prepared himself this time (and warned me to cover my ears, too).

Very similar to my shopping list, minus a box of Teddy Grahams

Monkeys by the gorillas

A didn't feel great, but was a trooper. She loves being outside.

Awesome new walk-through shark tank. Sharks are so ugly in a scary way. They have such beady little eyes...

We stopped at REI on the way home for some shopping and rock climbing (free!--if you don't count the $120 we spent while they were climbing...). TW gave it two tries and got about as high as my head.

TJ also climbed twice and made it about 2/3 of the way up before he looked down.

Checking out a cool fountain near where we parked. The boys (and I) always love going to the city and seeing all the hardscape--we're so country-come-to-town. :)

One thing I love about the East--Dogwoods.

Stay tuned for more...maybe I'll have the energy to post again tomorrow night (unless I'm on a hot date with or being nice and watching the Nuggets with my husband).

8 Months

Miss A turned 8 months this past week. Hard to believe. She now has two teeth, is sitting up like a pro, has decided baby food is too juvenile, has gotten on her knees a couple of times, has decided she does not like naps (read: cries in her bed), still giggles the most at her brothers (I almost typed "bothers", but she definitely doesn't think so), loves playing with toys in the bath, and we're pretty sure has said, "quack," "feather," "Tad," and "bath," though they sounded more like, "ack," (I didn't hear feather so I don't know what it sounded like), "ad," and "baa!" She is happy most of the time (well, not last night when she screamed off and on until 3:30 a.m. while I rocked her--I think gas was the problem, but am not sure--I am very tired and grouchy today, to say the least) and is getting more opinionated in her old age. Happy 8 months, Sweet Girl!
